Hi just a little report and a few pics from the King of Dirt rd3 at NASS 08
After a funny 2 hour drive and the usual antics involved with getting into the big events we arrived at Shepton Mallet in Somerset to witness Rd 3 of the King Of Dirt.
The trails were looking good and the Weather was for once amazing !!
With many of the big name Pro riders inc. Chris and Mike Smith , Sam Reynolds , Ricky Crompton , Rory Backshell and the Zimbo Duo Blake and Raymond Samson turning up on the saturday it gave some of the newer riders on the Pro circuit some time to practice getting through the trails and getting there new tricks down in time for the comp.
Nass has grown a good reputation for providing an incredible extreme sports show and it certainly proved that this year was to be another good event.
With Help from our sponsors and big names in the game, we managed to get the Prize fund up to £250 for the Winner .
The riding Kicked off at 1pm on the sunday with grey clouds floating above us which soon changed and helped to lift the riders spirit even more!
Chris Smith came 1st Place with a good consistency through the trails pulling 360 tailwhips, barspins, superman seat grabs .
Chris was closely followed by a new guy to the MTB dirt jump scene Danny Pace, he impressed the crowd with massive tailwhips and off-axis flips over the last jump.
Third place went to Rory Backshell. Rory rode really well all weekend and showed the judges that he is still up there with the best of them.

The Nike Killing it award went to Sam Reynolds (DMR, Dirtyhabit) who the judges were really impressed with but due to an unfortunate crash meant he could not continue the comp.
Big shout outs have to go to Mike Smith , Sam Reynolds, Billy Bob and any others that hurt themselves and didn’t manage to finish the comp.
The next round is at The Track on August 9th. For more details check out www.kingofdirt08.com or www.myspace.co/kingofdirt08
Cheers

The Pro riders started on the jam line, which for anyone that hasn’t seen Wisley trails are fascinating display of digging abilities with a level of perfection that is seen only at the worlds most renown trails.

Being able to take a mountain bike through a set of dirt jumps that perfect and performing tricks such as “Table-top Flip” and “Tailwhips” consistently proves that the sport is progressing at a astonishing rate.
Blake Samson who has improved so much since last year started pulling tricks like mid-set 360 x-ups and stretched indian air’s along with Sam Reynolds amazing consistency and dialled tricks left us puzzled over the first place.
The Trails on the Pro line are outstanding, Seeing Sam Reynolds trying a “double tailwhip” on the last jump is something that will stay in my mind for along time to come. The judges were left puzzled and it was a really tuff decision to make, but after a lot of conferring it was decided that Sam deserved the first place with his consistency and his dialled skills made him The King of Dirt for a second time.

Well done Sam from everyone at DH.

Ding Ding ….,. Round 2
The 2nd round of the UK King of Dirt is this weekend at the world famous Wisley trails in Surrey and Dirtyhabit are proud to be associated the revitalized 2008 series.
This event follows hot on the heels of the Nissan Qashqai finals in London on Saturday. There is no guarantee, but i wouldn’t be suprised if a few of the worlds top names dont head down to Wisley after Saturdays big event in Central London. Even if the big guns don’t then I am sure that a lot of UK riders will be at the Qashqai event and will be fired up and inspired to pull out all the stops at Wisley the next day.
Lets just hope the weather holds out
We are going to try to be there on Sunday, but if we aren’t the main man, Ben Mark has plenty of Dirtyhabit product for throw outs and spot prizes throughout the day, so get yourselve (and your bike) down there at 11am.

Sam has really been stepping up his game over the winter learning new stuff and switching to a 26″ wheel ride.
Blake travelling from the Isle of Wight has improved immensely over the winter, growing from a top UK dirt jumper into a top contender on the world freeride circuit.
If they qualify they will be at all the main rounds and will have a chance at the final in central London with a $250,000.00 cash purse with 10’s of thousands of spectators with TV coverage!

The main man, Ben Mark, has scribed a few words filling us in on what happened a round 1 last weekend at Chicksands…………………
The weather being its usual unpredictable self nearly forced the cancellation of the first round of the new 2008 King of Dirt series, but thanks to a lot of dedicated locals and a fortunate turn in the weather, meant that the session went ahead!!!
After setting up all the banners and getting the now wet registration forms completed we kicked off the event with the open category.
The great thing about the Open comp is the fact you see a lot of new faces and also the future of the sport is lying in these riders abilities on their bikes. And what a round it was, there were tail whips, flips, tabletops, bar spins and loads of no-footed variations, but the guy that stole the show was a regular at the event Stinky Pete who after a hell of a lot of heckling from his adoring fans flipped the first jump to the bar spin the second to then no foot can-can the last one which for an amateur rider is an incredible run!!
The Pro the kicked off which turned out to be an amazing competition.
With 14 people entering the Pro Competition I knew that there was going to be a real buzz to the event and some big tricks were gonna go down! The winner Sam Pilgrim ( Diamondback Bikes) quite simply blew the riders away with his impressive array of tricks and still which just proves why he is sponsored. Seeing Sam do his first front flip over a dirt jump was a real crowd pleaser and an awesome achievement for a rider of such a young age. Sam Reynolds (DMR Bikes, Dirtyhabit) came second with his effortless style and his dialled tricks, and new Guy Raymond Samson (Last Bikes) came third ,
The Next round at Wisley Trails on the 25th should be a real good competition and another show of how much improvement the winter training has brought to the riders abilities.
Cheers
